I have to say I have recently had a serious think about porn….and after I did, I thought about whether I should put it on one of my sites!
One of the sites I have http://tad.tw, is a mobile phone site. The big applications for the mobile are news, weather and you guessed it porn! The theory is that someones phone is a lot more personal, so therefore porn is less likely to be discovered by urhm… people you wouldn’t want to discover it…, than it would be on a computer.
Personally I decided not to put it on, as the site also contains and was originally designed for Brisbane train timetables. This means that to include it would have alienated at least half my potential audience even before I started!
Would I include it in other sites? That’s a tricky one. I would like to say no, but I guess there are times when you may be faced with a decision that could mean the difference between putting food on the table or not. I really hope I never have to make that decision!
I guess there is also porn and porn. I grew up in the UK where the Sun newspaper has a page 3 picture of a topless woman. Although I can hardly say these are tasteful art, they also aren’t tasteless.
Can you make money out of porn? There is no doubt you can and lots of it. Is it good for society? Probably not, but do we have a right to say that..oh damn it, this is a moral maze! Think I’ll have a shower now!

Okay, so I did some digging for interests sake and found the following info on the mobile phone porn industry.
Unfortunately it’s relevant only to South America, and to “adult mobile content” which Signals Telecom Consulting estimates will be worth $US1.12 billion in that market by 2013. They tell us that Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela have the best images and video offering,” because in other countries ” in-house censorship imposed by the operators themselves is…holding back growth of this service.”
That’s a lot of cash. I have to say that personally I’m still not tempted, but I’m sure there are plenty of people that would be.
