Hi Phil/Ailsa, love the show, only found you recently and am busy working my way through your back-catalog as I get the ferry across the harbour to work each morning.
On the subject of Benalla Online it looks like it may be worth while looking at ELGG – we’ve just started looking at it ourselves for some of our existing clients who want to step up from WordPress to a full-on social networking site. We’ve installed it an it really does look very good for a Version 1.0.
