This week Ailsa and I discuss Search Engine Optimisation and Google Adwords or other sponsored links.

We dissect in detail what SEO might involve and suggest perhaps the use of a professional for this on your site.

Adwords can be handled personally but again there are advantages in using a trained professional.

Also helpful is a spot of Google Optimisation and a simple A/B testing kit for your site to assess text and call to action styles and text.

If you are wondering if you should DIY or hire for any of these services and you wish to ask Ailsa, use the “Ask Ailsa” link and she will email you back an opinion.

Our 50th show gives Ailsa an excuse to celebrate the milestone.

All the way from Sydney via Skype our special guest this week is Julian Cole from Naked Communications.

Julian announces a move to a new business. A social media agency yet to be announced.

A quick Google search should be the starting point for any business getting involved in social media.

Julian stresses the need for business to engage with social media both as a research tool but also to humanise their response.

Social media can contain content about your brand or product and as such will compete online for search keywords that your prospective clients will use.

Julian talks about social media etiquette.

The CEO of a very large company personally emails a customer regarding technical concerns relating to the product.

Phil mentions Shazam and the ability to sell music downloads from audio soundtrack.
